Tallow Lotion Bars

Equipment

  • 1 double broiler
  • 1 silicone mold or muffin tin
  • Airtight container (for storage)
  • spoon/spatula for stirring

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup grass-fed beef tallow
  • 1/2 cup organic shea butter (or substitute with cocoa butter or mango butter)
  • 3 tbsp beeswax pellets (or carnauba wax)
  • 1.5 tsp therapeutic-grade essential oil or fragrance oil

Instructions
 

  • Set up a double boiler or place a glass bowl over a pot of simmering water.
  • Add the beef tallow, shea butter, and beeswax pellets to the double boiler. Stir occasionally until melted.
  • Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Stir in the essential or fragrance oil.
  • Pour the mixture into silicone molds or muffin tins.
  • Let the molds sit at room temperature for 6–8 hours, or place them in the freezer for about 1 hour to harden.
  • Remove the bars from the molds and store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
