Simple Homemade Guacamole

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • Potato masher or fork
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • spoon
  • Airtight container (for storage)

Ingredients
  

  • 4 small ripe avocados hass avocados work best
  • Juice from 2 small limes or 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1-2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup tomatoes gutted and seeded
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped red onion
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Cut avocado in half, remove the avocado pit, and scoop out the flesh into a large bowl.
  • Use a potato masher or fork to mash to your preferred consistency (chunky or smooth).
  • Add lime juice, garlic, kosher salt, cilantro, tomatoes, red onion, and black pepper.
  • Mix well and taste. Add more lime juice, salt, or pepper if needed.
  • Serve immediately with homemade tortilla chips or store in an airtight container with a layer of plastic wrap pressed against the surface to prevent browning.
