Pan-Seared Ahi Tuna Steaks

Ingredients
  

  • 4-6 ahi tuna steaks

For the marinade:

  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to taste
  • Everything bagel seasoning enough to coat the ahi tuna steaks

For the sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • Juice of 1/2 a lime

Instructions
 

  • In a shallow dish, whisk together sesame oil, balsamic glaze, garlic paste, and ginger paste. Add tuna steaks and coat well. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Marinate for 15–30 minutes.
  • In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, garlic paste, black pepper, paprika, and lime juice. Set aside.
  • Remove tuna from marinade and pat dry with paper towels. Coat both sides with everything bagel seasoning.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
  • Place tuna in the pan and sear for 1.5 minutes without moving. Flip using tongs and sear the other side for another 1.5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
  • Slice thinly against the grain using a sharp knife.
  • Serve over rice and drizzle with sauce. Garnish as desired and enjoy.

Notes

Best served rare to medium-rare for the best texture.
A hot pan is key for a perfect sear.
Use high quality tuna for best results.
