Old Fashioned Skillet Hamburgers with Oats

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 pounds ground hamburger meat
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, combine the old fashioned oats and water. Stir until the oats are moist but not mushy.
  • Place the ground hamburger meat into a large bowl. Season with salt and black pepper.
  • Add the moistened oats to the meat and mix until everything is well combined.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and form into hamburger patties.
  • Heat a large cast iron skillet over low to medium heat. Melt the butter in the skillet.
  • Place the patties into the skillet and cook low and slow for 7–8 minutes per side.
  • Cook until the burgers reach an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees.
  • Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.
