How to Make an Easy Southern Lemon Chess Pie Recipe from Scratch

Equipment

  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 stand mixer optional

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pie crust
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp cornmeal
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp lemon zest

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine sugar, flour and cornmeal in a large bowl and toss lightly with a fork or whisk.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Use a hand or stand mixer to to combine until mixture is smooth and thoroughly blended.
  • Pour into an unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
  • Bake for approximately 40 minutes at 350 degrees until top is golden brown.
  • Allow pie to cool and set before cutting.
