Homemade Playdough divided into four colors

Homemade Non-Toxic Playdough Recipe

Equipment

  • 1 Medium-sized pot
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 Rubber spatula or wooden spoon
  • 4 Zip-top bags

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil

Instructions
 

  • In a medium-sized pot, combine 1 cup flour, 1/3 cup salt, and 2 teaspoons cream of tartar. Stir well.
  • Pour in 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  • Place the pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir continuously until the dough thickens and starts to stick to the spoon (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and let the dough cool for a few minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 4 portions, place each in a zip-top bag, add food coloring or essential oils, and knead until the color is evenly distributed.
  • Remove from bags and start playing! Store in an airtight container or silicone bags to keep it fresh.
