Homemade Non-Toxic Diaper Rash Salve

Equipment

  • Double boiler or heat-safe glass bowl and pot
  • Spoon for stirring
  • 8oz glass jar for storage
  • Measuring spoons and cups

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup shea butter
  • 3 tbsp tallow
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp beeswax pellets
  • 2 tbsp bentonite clay
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 drops chamomile essential oil
  • 1 drop tea tree essential oil

Instructions
 

  • In a double boiler, melt together shea butter, tallow, and beeswax pellets.
  • Once melted, remove from heat and stir in bentonite clay and arrowroot powder until smooth.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then stir in lavender, chamomile, and tea tree essential oils.
  • Pour the slightly cooled mixture into an 8oz glass jar. Let it cool to room temperature to solidify.
  • Allow the salve to cool and harden completely before securing the lid.
  • Apply a small amount to your baby’s clean, dry skin as needed.
