Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent

Equipment
- large pot
- Wooden spoon or spatula
- Heat-resistant half-gallon glass jar
- Funnel (optional)
- Airtight lid
Materials
- 4 cups water boiling
- 1/2 cup liquid castile soap
- 1/2 cup washing soda sodium carbonate
- 1/4 cup baking soda sodium bicarbonate
- 1/4 cup Epsom salt
- 20-30 drops essential oil optional
- Room-temperature water to fill jar
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil in a large pot.
- Add liquid castile soap, washing soda, baking soda, and Epsom salt to a heat-resistant half-gallon jar.
- Carefully pour the boiling water over the ingredients in the jar. Stir until fully dissolved.
- Fill the remaining space in the jar with room-temperature water, stirring gently.
- Add 20–30 drops of essential oil for scent, if desired, and stir again.
- Let the mixture cool completely, then seal the jar with an airtight lid. Shake well before each use.
Notes
Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of detergent per load of laundry.
