Homemade Cowboy Butter

Prep Time 15 minutes

Equipment

  • Small bowl or mixer
  • Hand mixer or food processor
  • Long piece of plastic wrap, parchment paper, or wax paper
  • sharp knife
  • Airtight container or freezer-safe container

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup softened butter unsalted butter or salted
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 4-6 garlic cloves roasted or freshly minced
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh chives
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne

Instructions
 

  • Place butter in a small bowl at room temperature.
  • Add lemon juice, garlic, parsley, chives, thyme, dijon mustard, salt, paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, cayenne, and black pepper.
  • Mix ingredients with a hand mixer or in a food processor until smooth and fully incorporated.
  • Lay out a long piece of plastic wrap, parchment paper, or wax paper on the counter.
  • Spoon the butter mixture into the center of the wrap and shape it into a butter log.
  • Wrap tightly and refrigerate until firm.
  • Slice with a sharp knife and serve on steak, fresh bread, vegetables, or other dishes.
  • Store leftover cowboy butter in an airtight container or freezer-safe container.
