Easy Instant Pot Spaghetti

  • wooden spoon

  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb lean ground beef or ground turkey or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 lb spaghetti noodles
  • 24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce or marinara sauce
  • 2 cups water use the empty spaghetti jar to collect leftover sauce
  • Olive oil optional
  • Fresh basil optional for garnish
  • Parmesan cheese optional for serving

Instructions
 

  • Press the sauté button on the instant pot. Add lean ground beef and brown using a wooden spoon in a criss-cross pattern.
  • Add diced onion and garlic, sautéing with the meat for a few minutes. Season with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Drain grease if desired.
  • Turn off the instant pot. Stir in the diced tomatoes. Layer spaghetti noodles over the meat in opposite directions.
  • Pour the jar of sauce over the noodles. Add 2 cups of water to the empty sauce jar, shake to get leftover sauce, and pour over pasta. Press noodles gently under the liquid without stirring.
  • Secure the lid and set the instant pot to manual mode, high pressure, for 8 minutes.
  • When cooking time is complete, perform a quick release. Open the lid carefully and stir the spaghetti, combining noodles and sauce.
  • Serve topped with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese if desired.
