DIY Sore Muscle Soothing Balm

Equipment

  • Double boiler or small saucepan and heat-safe bowl
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • Cheesecloth
  • Fine mesh strainer or funnel
  • Half-pint glass jar with lid (or similar container)

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup tallow or shea butter or mango butter
  • 1/4 cup beeswax
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 10 drops peppermint oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops eucalyptus oil
  • 5 drops rosemary essential oil

Instructions
 

  • In a double boiler or small saucepan, melt the coconut oil, tallow, and beeswax over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Add cayenne pepper, ginger, and turmeric powder. Simmer gently for 20 minutes to infuse.
  • Remove from heat and carefully strain the mixture through cheesecloth into a clean bowl or jar.
  • Let cool for 5–10 minutes, then stir in the essential oils.
  • Pour into a half-pint glass jar and allow to cool completely at room temperature.
  • Seal and store in a cool, dry place. Apply a small amount to the affected area as needed.
